My Red Warrior Loves Her Black Superiority

Grey skies were low with reams of wadding clouds. The pool of rainwater was dark, with ripples that quickly vibrated like shimmering fingerprints. A young pigeon landed on the green roof ledge next to me. She took off to the flight of her companion on the next roof. The pool was quite deep and wide. The boot print was nearly submerged. Only a slight curve remained above the water. The pool was reflective and transparent. Gravel under the deep with sky and trees mirrored with delight. Trees waved restlessly. Puffy green rolled-up leaves waited to unfurl. Many youngsters were growing in reserve. A crow cawed in the distance, some miles away. Her mountain of love was rich with mossy green and brown. 3 lithe black birds soared in the air. I’m in love with Anna in this.

A seagull glided overhead. I first saw her reflection in the water. A second followed along from behind. Tree branches were dark with damp from yesterday’s rain. I was almost able to see my breath. All the gravel was soaked. There was none dry. Black tar was deeply glossy, looking more like shells on a beach. Front and black lawns were green. Colour stood out vividly in the dark and grey light. Birds were virtually quiet, but picked up at a moment’s notice. Movement was formed by unwinding in subtle ways. It was impossible to predict. It has a mind of its own -a guidance system that shows me the pathway to love and healing. Trust in the process is what I thought. I’m in love with Anna in this.

It was an interesting but very challenging day with the kids. Boys and girls from grade 5 played a mean game of tossing worms at each other in chase. A few worms got crushed. I didn’t like that too much but I had to cope with the cruelty of children. I had my horsey umbrella, in case it rained but I didn’t think it would draw so much attention. 2 girls tried to convince me to give them my umbrella so that they could use it to murder a classmate. I told them I needed it for my own protection, from them. A Chinese girl wondered if it was a giraffe head instead of a horse, because of the very long neck,. This made me question even further. I wondered if it was a camel. Then she rolled her eyes up into her head at me, making an ugly spooky skull face, and she wanted me to see her eyes turn inside out. By that time, I had enough. Juliet needed a band-aid on her knee and elbow after she fell down and hurt herself. While the children ate their lunch, one of the boys told me that the group of girls said that my mother was dead. I answered back “How would they know?” He stuffed his lunch garbage into the bag I held for him but he did it so belligerantly that I told him to stop. He didn’t and the bag of trash dropped from my hands and hit the floor. I asked him as a joke “Are you mental?”

It was a poor choice of words and it backfired on me. I should have said “You can do better than that.” He wouldn’t let me forget my remark, and his classmates took advantage of it. He blocked his ears and sang loudly when I apologized later on. This caught me off guard. Perhaps it is my lack of experience with various forms of manipulation. There are challenging behavioural problems that I am observing with some of the children that seem like some kind of social illness fostered in school. It took me a while to get over that. I have never encountered it with Tristan. I’m blessed to have a well-behaved son. I’m in love with Anna in this.
