A yellow aura stretched behind her dark mountain of love. Snow ridges were layered like sandstone. Trees were completely still. I’m in love with Anna in this.
A dog barked while a crew cleared dead Christmas trees from the road. My face felt cold in the frigid damp air. The coldness absorbed in my body. The sky was opaque as moonstone in the stillness of the wind. There was silence and there was the occasional chirping lovebird. My face became colder. It was scarf weather. Inner working continued mildly. The snow had a thick crusty coat that broke into sheets when I walked. Beneath it was powdery. I gazed at the sun and felt scant warmth. The light was dim and withdrawn. Smoke wafted high from chimneys. I could see my breath. I’m in love with Anna in this.
At the schoolyard a girl made a butterfly outline in snow that she could lie in. A group of 6 girls were intent on making a human pyramid. They kept climbing and falling. Another group of 6 was inspired to try. A third group of 6 worked in earnest. One group of girls made a miniature Nile river that had a small Sphinx alongside it. I loved it. I asked the girls if they were learning about Egypt in class. The girls said they were not. Many kids seemed as sleepy as I was. I noticed more than one child resting in the snow beds they made. The little Asian girl showed me her piece of ice that she shaved so shiny and smooth and with such care. “C’est mon prefere glace.” She said when she hugged it. I’m in love with Anna in this.
