With Tristan and I up at Starbucks this morning, there were 8 people in the room. Tristan ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream, I had my regular coffee, and he enjoyed his Futurama comic, while I spent love time writing for Anna. There was a sure sign of pink: A teacher correcting a large pile of school papers with pink covers on them. There was a woman that sat by the window, with a pink scarf and brown coat on her chair. She was getting ready to leave, with her black gloves with pink cuff lining. A woman arrived wearing a black coat with white curves. She was with her two children together –a young boy and a girl. The boy wore a blue black and white winter jacket.

The litte girl wore a black white and pink coat, with a pale pink hat with pink pompoms. And then, Tristan and I made our way to downtown. Tristan and I woke up early this morning, with plans to go downtown for late Christmas shopping. That’s the way it worked out this year. He gets to be there to choose what he wants  -most likely the DVD of Clone Wars. I bought him two Star Wars action figures. And I bought myself a CD, the album Low by David Bowie -good music from my early teens. Tristan suggested we rent the film Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest, with the giant octopus. It was a beautiful sunny morning. The sky was marbled blue with white cloud frosting.

The sun was out; it was shining. Beautiful shadows and light contrast. Trees in love were so still and so poised. Snow was so clean soft and white. Gentle flakes spiraled downward, sparse but with quickening speed. Jazz music played on the speakers. This morning, Anna showed me, the pale sky above the city. The sky glowed with green yellow and white. There was a slight hints of pinkness, in the midst of this morning’s snowfall. Anna showed me the street with the traffic, and in the afternoon it glowed so brightly with yellow. And then she took me to Habitat orange, and to the vivid sky yellow downtown.  I love Anna Dirksen.
