Goosecreek Symphony
Are any of you old enough to remember a band from the 1970s called Goosecreek Symphony. They were a country / rock band that used two violinists, two saxaphonists and one trombonist. Their lyrics often dealt with the evils of polution. They had a couple of songs on commercial radio, the most well known being the full band version of Janis Joplin’s ‘ Oh Lord, Won’t You Buy Me A Mercedes Benz.’ Well, I never noticed any of their albums on CD, but apparently they did a reunion show in 1996 and released a CD of the reunion show. I bought this disc at a used record store in Atlanta and am currently enjoying it.
Suvy was glad to be let out of the house when I arrived home. Mom did not feel competant to supervise her unless she was kept inside for the four days that I was gone. Fortunately, Suvy did not forget who I was like she did when I left for nine days last year. Although Suvy was happy to see me, she felt compelled to scratch and bite me a few times as punishment for leaving her.
The Saudis agreed to increase their production of crude oil today. The foreign markets have lowered the price of crude by 47 cents as of a few minutes ago. That decrease in price is negligible. Perhaps the U.S. markets will lower the price in the morning (Monday.)
Happy new week,
I.C.
