Fried Alligator

Filed under: Uncategorized — maxh @ 9:55 pm and

I finally sampled the fried, popcorn alligator delicacy that is offered here in Thomaston at a take out restaurant called Captain La La’s. This restaurant offers a variety of fish meals and even frog legs, which I hope to never eat. When I entered the front door I was pleased to find a delightful young woman behind the counter, whom I got to know when I first moved back here three years ago. Considering her presence to be a good omen, I ordered a half pound of alligator and two corns on the cob. The food was prepared in about five minutes. I told Tracey that I had to try one of the alligator nuggets before leaving the restaurant. After quickly chewing and eating one, another customer asked me if it was good. He asked the question with a tone of true inquisitive concern. I told him that it was good and that it tasted a lot like pork. I don’t know if alligator has as much cholesteral as pork or not. I doubt that telling you that it tasted like pork will encourage you to eat it one day, but I am just reporting to you the experience. This has been the only new experience that I have had on this holiday weekend in the U.S.
My other experiences have involved eldercare, housework, yard work and guitar work. My friend D will go back to the doctor on September 10th to see if her third broken bone has started fusing back together. She has been living in institutions for about three months now. She is holding up rather well. It has been a privilege to help her.
A new week begins,
I.C.
