Dilated Pupils and Loud Guitar
No, I did not take hallucinogens and go to a rock concert today; just let me explain ! I went to the eye doctor and downloaded the new League of Gentlemen release.
I’m in Atlanta for my bi-annual visit with the opthomalogist. He flipped my eyelids inside out and looked for any unusual swelling of the lymphatic tissue under there. Fortunately, he found none and I will report that to my oncologist tomorrow, who will do a blood chemistry on me and will manually feel my liver and spleen to detect any unusual swelling. Ironically, I scored better on the vision test today than I did six months ago… Although I rarely ever wear glasses, I am as blind as a bat and feel as though my eyesight is actually getting worse. The doctor dilated my pupils before my examination today which cancelled my plans of moviegoing this afternoon. It was a wise decision on my part to take a taxi to the appointment this afternoon.
At least the hotel has a health club and free broadband access. Free for $120 a night that is. I cannot see well enough to go out tonight and have to entertain myself here. I downloaded the new League of Gentlemen recording from the DGM site. It seems to be an off-the-board recording. The guitar is not only prominent in the mix, but the guitar sound is rather ballsy and sustained. It sounds like R.F. is playing through a Roland amp. At times, it sounds like he turns on an octave divider. One of the pieces seems to be an early version of ‘Frame by Frame.’ This is the best sounding L.O.G. recording that I have ever heard ! I also downloaded part two of the lecture ‘ Discipline and the Act of Music,’ although I have not listened to it yet. The clock radio in this hotel room has a CD player in it, with two small speaker grills on each side of the radio. I don’t know if this radio is stereo or not, but it is the best sounding hotel clock radio that I have ever heard.
Waiting for my vision to clear,
I.C.
