P.O.W. Photo

What you see in this photo is a recreation of the inside of the Union Prison Camp in Andersonville, Georgia. The Union Civil War soldiers that were brought here had to construct their own shelters to sleep under from whatever tree branches and tent fragments that they could find. As you see, there was no roof over the prison. 29% of the prisoners died in captivity. This recreation is verifiably accurate because the new technology of photography had been invented by the 1860s. These recreations are modeled after actual photos of the inside of the prison, that can be seen in the P.O.W. History Museum ( or whatever its called ) there in Andersonville. As I mentioned in a previous post, the manager of the prison was hanged after the war for his negligence.
