Words for the Grieving

Filed under: Uncategorized — maxh @ 6:12 pm and

It has been a weekend of contacting people at a distance and wishing them goodwill. Fortunately, my weekend has been slow enough to allow this. The clouds have disappeared here in Thomaston and the sky is now blue. The new week will begin tomorrow.

The grieving families of the two musicians that we lost recently will not see a blue sky until a little bit later. I wish that I could share my help with them in person, because I have a lot of help to give grieving people. One of the hardest parts of the grief experience is after the funeral and after the condolence cards quit coming in the mail. At that point it seems like your world has still stopped and that the rest of the world has kept on going. How indescribably lonely that can feel !  The grief hits home hard and it can seem like the whole world has abandoned you. If any of you personally know a grieving person right now, don’t hesitate to call them up and check on them. Do understand that it may take years for them to feel well again and that it is normal for that to happen. Tell them that although the pain may never go away that the pain will fade enough for them to be functional again and believe it or not, even happy again.

With understanding,

I.C.
