Rehearsing Parole Therapy

Filed under: Uncategorized — maxh @ 11:10 pm and

No, I am not about to go on parole, nor am I incarcerated for any reason. I will explain in a minute.

I have been rehearsing my set for my show in Atlanta. Both the hands and the voice are in a state of unfamiliarity with the music, but progress is being made in a day by day manner. I am glad that I have plenty of time to get this material down.

Last night I met a  parole officer, who works for the state government in a county here in Georgia. He is a young man in his twenties. Our conversation turned to the subject of psychotherapy. He mentioned that his clients often confide their personal problems to him and seem to want help from him in solving them. The parole officer counsels them in whatever way he can within the time constraints of his job. ( he has sixteen clients a day ) He  is not a trained therapist, but does the best he can within the time slot that he has to work with the client. Is is unfortunate that there are no therapists here in this county. Although my life is happy and worry free, it would be nice if I could meet with a therapist and improve upon my own self understanding and self improvement. Some of this parole officer’s clients are in desperate need of therapy, but there is none available in the county where he works. You readers who live in cities or other places where therapy is available should feel fortunate to have it available. I wish this young parole officer all of the luck in the world in helping these people who need it.

With concern,

I.C.
