Working Through Obstructions
Goodwill to all people experiencing obstructions to your happiness today. I hope that your spirit is not broken before you escape the situation. If it does get broken, there is help avaiable for you to get it back !
My obstructions today involved my doctor’s appointment here in Atlanta. The reason that I stayed in this expensive hotel was because my eyes were due to be dilated and I wanted to walk to and from the appointment. Today’s rain, wind and tornado alert made walking dangerous and I had to take a cab. I could have stayed at a Red Roof Inn and payed less than half of this amount of money and just taken a cab from there. Once I got to the doctor’s office I waited three and a half hours to see him; to see him for ten minutes ! Fortunately my swelling in my lower right eyelid is not any worse. I will report this to my oncologist tomorrow.
If any of you are experiencing extreme family problems at this time, you should not go see the new movie ‘Babel.” It deals with extreme family problems, among other things. So what do four different families in Moracco, Japan, Mexico and America have in common ? How about pain, abuse, sexual misconduct and life threatening emergencies. This movie is not a feel good movie.
Would you believe that the Blue Cheer reunion tour is playing in Atlanta tonight ? Although they were always too bluesy for me, I would have gone to see them if my vision wasn’t blurry. I would have enjoyed supporting their ability to play music at that age. The local newspaper says that two of the bandmembers are original and that the ‘new’ one has only been with the band for twenty years… You have to respect a band like that !
And speaking of giving breaks to old timers, last night I had a meeting with local booking agent K.D. He is currenty phasing out of the booking industry to open up his own country and western club in East Atlanta. Although my music is country influenced it would be hated at a C+W club. K.D. did offer me an opening slot at one of the nicest small clubs in Atlanta. It has excellent monitors and a curtain in front of the stage. Curtains always add a nice dramatic flair to a performance, especially when the performer tries to be theatrical. I like it when the announcer says, ‘ and now ladies and gentlemen, the band you’ve been waiting to see ____ ! “ The curtain goes up and there the performer is ! I will let you all know when this gig gets confirmed.
Rambling on,
I.C.
