First Impressions of New Demo
I have finally received a copy of the Strange Hours recording session that I participated in three weeks ago. It turned out better than I had feared. The vocals are loud and clear. My guitar playing, although imperfect,  is not sloppy enough to ruin the recording. The drum machine sounds better than it ever has at band practice. The bass guitar, in a heroic act of ego restraint by bass player / producer Don Smith, is only a little too low in the mix. It still amazes me how good the home recording quality is nowdays. Back in the 1970s we used to have to pay $20/hour for eight track analog recording, with quite a bit of hiss on the final product.Â
The producer of this recording put a lot of effort into changing the guitar sound into something different than it was at the recording session. I have never heard myself sound like this before. (Lots of chorus, echo, flange added) He even somehow made my Gibson hollwbody sound like a Fender Telecaster on one song!I do not know when these four songs will be up on the internet, but I will let you all know as soon as I know anything.
With relief,
I.C.
