… your Domain Registrar… in this case, Register.com goes down?
Well, if you are using their DNS service, your server becomes magically inaccessible soon afterwards.
I’m not sure how long they were down, but by the time I had gotten home, most of Krimson News was affected. I was totally confused as I’d never had an issue on the registrar’s end with DNS at least that I know of, since I registered the domain.
Glad to see they resolved whatever issue it was by this morning. Hope nobody was too inconvenienced by the short outage.
I’ve received a few messages about the Jaffa Cakes post. I’m glad I’m not the only one who enjoys their yumminess.
Some other news of likely limited interest, I’m now officially a WeedShare ICP, (Independant Content Producer), so if you have any music you’d like to have published in this format or if you just have some questions please let me know and we can chat.
You can see more about WeedShare.com at their website: http://www.weedshare.com
I’ve got a friend who is a Christian music artist who will be my first client. I’ll be getting in touch with him soon to finalize the necessary signatures and get started on filling him in on what we can do to make the best product possible, and how to market it appropriately.
I had an interesting discussion about how WeedShare can be successful in the existing environment. My immediate response was, you don’t compete, you provide something new. Ask yourself this, “What is the benefit of building a business based on a successful but flawed model, IE: iTunes?” Then ask yourself, “What is the benefit of building a business based upon a new more refined model?” There are pros and cons to each side. Building on an existing successful model offers the best chance for success, but making a whole new model allows you to make something that in the end doesn’t need to compete with similiar systems since it’d be like comparing a Model T to a McLaren F1 performancewise.

In otherwords, the old model becomes obsolete, so it doesn’t even matter. There is some time before people become aware of this potential, but it’s coming.
I’m working towards opening a space which will hold all of the Weedified music files I produce as an ICP. Under primary consideration is opening a blog here to hold such items. This would seem to be the easiest method and allow for some interesting cross pollenation between the blog and the main KN page, once I get the RSS feeds to tie together. All it takes is…. sigh… another plugin. Each time I activate one I wince a little, but hey, what’s life without a little adventure?
