The Veyron Is Amazing

Is it excessive?  Without a doubt, but certainly, it is a piece of art from an engineering standpoint, and here is the video to prove it:

[kml_flashembed movie="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf" FVars="video=fcd94538-c0df-4067-85f8-98fb00d01857" width="428" height="352"/]

At a maximum speed run, the tires are worn out in 15 minutes, but as the driver states, that’s ok, because the fuel runs out in 12 minutes. ;)

Enjoy!

Jumping Old Cars

There’s lots of these videos out there, and this one was discovered over at Jalopnik.com which is an excellent automotive news site.

In other news, the Stargates were quite good on Friday.

A Bel Air For The Ages

The legendary 1962 Chevy Biscayne, the “Hot Rod of the Year” award winner in all of its precision crafted and fitted glory is up for auction at eBay.

Reserve is not quite yet met, although it is moving quickly past  $100,000 and sits presently at $110,100.  This bad boy has a twin turbo’d 406 turning 1400HP.

This is nearly 10 times the horsepower in my car.

For some reason I instantly though of Adrian when I saw this beastie.  What do you think?  Can you see Adrian tooling around in this crate?  I think he’d look fabbo in it!

The auction is HERE, don’t forget to bring your pennies!  I just want to know how those rear wheels come off!  285R22’s, are you kidding me!?  Wow!  Thanks to Jalopnik for the direction on this one.

What Happens When…

… your Domain Registrar… in this case, Register.com goes down?

Well, if you are using their DNS service, your server becomes magically inaccessible soon afterwards.

I’m not sure how long they were down, but by the time I had gotten home, most of Krimson News was affected.  I was totally confused as I’d never had an issue on the registrar’s end with DNS at least that I know of, since I registered the domain.

Glad to see they resolved whatever issue it was by this morning.  Hope nobody was too inconvenienced by the short outage.

I’ve received a few messages about the Jaffa Cakes post.  I’m glad I’m not the only one who enjoys their yumminess. :)

Some other news of likely limited interest, I’m now officially a WeedShare ICP, (Independant Content Producer), so if you have any music you’d like to have published in this format or if you just have some questions please let me know and we can chat.

You can see more about WeedShare.com at their website: http://www.weedshare.com

I’ve got a friend who is a Christian music artist who will be my first client.  I’ll be getting in touch with him soon to finalize the necessary signatures and get started on filling him in on what we can do to make the best product possible, and how to market it appropriately.

I had an interesting discussion about how WeedShare can be successful in the existing environment.  My immediate response was, you don’t compete, you provide something new.  Ask yourself this, “What is the benefit of building a business based on a successful but flawed model, IE: iTunes?”  Then ask yourself, “What is the benefit of building a business based upon a new more refined model?”  There are pros and cons to each side.  Building on an existing successful model offers the best chance for success, but making a whole new model allows you to make something that in the end doesn’t need to compete with similiar systems since it’d be like comparing a Model T to a McLaren F1 performancewise.

Model T to McLaren F1

In otherwords, the old model becomes obsolete, so it doesn’t even matter.  There is some time before people become aware of this potential, but it’s coming.

I’m working towards opening a space which will hold all of the Weedified music files I produce as an ICP.  Under primary consideration is opening a blog here to hold such items.  This would seem to be the easiest method and allow for some interesting cross pollenation between the blog and the main KN page, once I get the RSS feeds to tie together.  All it takes is…. sigh… another plugin.  Each time I activate one I wince a little, but hey, what’s life without a little adventure?

Go Hamster Go!

So good to hear Richard “The Hamster” Hammond is on his way to recovery after crashing a jet car at 280MPH, (The Vampire), and suffering severe head trauma.  The G’s placed upon his brain had to be tremendous, even with the best of protective gear.  Word has it the car did a nice rolling spin, eventually landing upside down.  Best wishes to him on that and to his family for his full recovery.  And this is not just because Top Gear is by far the best TV show about automobiles.  BY, FAR!  I think Richard is one of the best TV hosts around.
