Blog Backend Update 1.3.3

Posted at 10:47 pm under Site News

We are now on the latest version of the Wordpress MU software.

Most changes appear to be totally transparent, however, if you experience any issues either reading or posting your blog, please let me know!

Another update is likely forthcoming in the next month which will rectify several nagging issues and allow me to do some things with this area that I’ve wanted to do a long time.

In the meantime, contact me with issues, it’s likely to be an easy solution so don’t worry. :)

    Hello Jeff,

I am unable to access my stats or page for posting my blog at this point, but I’m assuming that will return shortly, as you work on the new changes. Unfortunatlely I have noticed in my older postings there is a problem with quotation marks and apostrophes -the wrong symbols are there. Finally, I have read Emory’s posting on London Calling on April 15th where he accuses me of sending him spam, out of vindictiveness, because of a previous blog he wrote about me using hurtful comments. I have never sent him spam, nor do I have any inclination to do so. I never read his blog. I find his comments hurtful and mean-spirited. Clearly he has a poor opinion of me and he reserves his right to express it against my wishes, but I don’t find that his comments and unfounded accusations help to foster a respecting and trustful blogging community.

    Frank-

Please update your email address, as the one in the system is not valid.

I’ve tried for the last 3 hours to convert the database to a standard encoding, but the problem is that the encoding changed for some reason back in November 2007. Any posts before that time are represented slightly weird due to the difference in encoding.

I’m going to give it another shot and see if a few more hours will give me any ideas on how to resolve this, but I’m not confident, as this is apparently a reported issue with the free software we use at the site. We get what we pay for I suppose.

All other issues appear to be resolved at this time.

Shoot me an email at mrcrimson@krimson-news.com

    Best-

    Jeff

Oh, all other issues resolved, aside from the plugins issue, (stats, etc), as I disabled all of the plugins.

I’m going to slowly add them again once we are at the latest version for a while, since plugging these things back in is apt to cause problems.

I’m getting spammed to hell and gone by “jeasiataina@mymail-in.net”…there’s a couple of other emails Spammy’s using too.

Also, what ever happend to the Blogstats?

Well, maybe it’s time for me to do the big ol’ update to the system. It’ll be a fairly major update which very well could cause lots of issues, so don’t expect it immediately. I’m going to try to wait until I have a full day to dedicate to it, but that’s not going to happen until a few weeks or longer.

On the stats side, it was causing tremendous slowdowns to store the stats, once I make the upgrade, I’ll look around for a better stats software to bring into the blogs.

    Any other thoughts?
