Cats Beloved, Deceased

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

This garage apartment was Susan and my domicile when around the time wheen we began living together. Ivan was three, or four, and lived until the age of 18. We weren’t allowed to have pets, so Ivan’s window perch could have caused us trouble.

From around the same time, probably 1987, a little earlier than above. This is the cat (then a kitten) of Tom Lewis’s girlfriend Alison. This cat also lived to a ripe old age:

Epiphone Valve Jr.

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I played a Valve Jr. head and cabinet model while in Chicago recording with Mike Dunne and Chuck King this summer at Chuck’s house. I fell in love with the tone immediately, and knew I would get one eventually. I ordered this with some birthday scratch, and it arrived today. It is the loudest 5 watts I’ve encountered, and breaks up wonderfully at low levels. There are several sites that suggest mods for it, but I’m pleased with it just as it arrived.

But a new pattern became clear. She surrounded herself with people she has known since grade school and members of her church.

Birthday Party 2008 at Shennanigans

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

“Now I’m gonna be 44…”

Last night at local sports bar Shennanigans, most of the adult and relatively adult faces in attendance, taken with my fab new iPhone 3G. I realize now missed a few!:

Susan, Adele, Ken, Stacy, Rob, Jen, Tony, Alissa, Pete, Kramer, Steve, Tina, Tess, Valerie, Amy, Brian, Corey, Lynn, Ariel, Karen, Keith. I missed Liz, Kenny and Susie B.

I had a great time, and Hollywood is a place where we’ve made more friends than we’ve ever had before. I was toasted for the first time in memory (since our wedding) by pediatrician and fellow Impediment Kenny B. Lots of gifts are on my desk, including a volume by David Lynch called “Catching The Big Fish”.
