Strange Orphan Tale, Strange Orphan Coincidences
We have a friend who was orphaned at three and adopted at the age of five. He was raised by a loving family, with a sister who they also adopted. His adopted mother and father are both deceased. Yesterday I received an email from him saying “This was my father. He died in July, 2007″. It took me a minute to figure out what he was talking about. Then I realized, and sent him an email to find out what had happened. His mother and father never married, but had another son together after he was placed in the orphanage. He, and his brother (who he never knew about), and his father (who he will never meet) work, and are/were successful, in the same business. His mother is still alive, and living on the other side of the state, a two-hour drive away. His father retired in 2006 was living in the next town over for the year before he died. My friend went yesterday to visit his father’s grave, and will go with his daughter to meet their mother/grandmother, and possibly the brother, this weekend. They — the family — had been looking for him for twenty years. There is an extended family. There are more odd details, but apparently a documentary is already in progress, so I’ll stop there.
