“Kids Love Peter Pan Peanut Butter”
Guess what I found in our cabinet?

We ate the first jar, the empty just went into recycling, part of a discount club two-fer pack.

A YouTube search for “Tacuma” (as in Jamaaladeen) brought this one, a white-hot harmelodic slab from 1979.
I have been part of some dismal performances, of this there is no doubt. Today, I witnessed someone else’s presentation of utter dread and loathing. We went with another family familiar to long-term readers, the mother of which uttered the above-quoted P-word. She also proposed a theory that the puppet heads had been constructed at some earlier time, and that the story was written (it was proudly announced that the story and music were composed by the troupe) to accommodate the existing heads. This would certainly explain the appearance of a pirate and a revolutionary soldier with no coherent connection to the plot. It was…(dramatic pause)…at one point a giant puppet head fell through the side stage curtain onto the main stage during the performance. Perhaps it was trying to escape and couldn’t find the exit. A post-show “puppet workshop” for which we had signed up was skipped, a trip to the sunny arts park and a gelato frenzy subbing nicely for “How to Create Your Own Frightening, Dismal Simulacra in Five Easy Steps”.
Later, we went to a “Greek Festival” in Fort Lauderdale and it was fun.
Wow. Prince=heroism in the pouring rain, with Hendrix/Dylan/Foo Fighters/Ike&Tina covers to boot. It is very rare to get that kind of performance in any nationally televised venue, and he did it, brought the big M into every home for those available to it. CH, the Grohl cousin seated nearby on the viewing couch, was very, very excited by the inclusion of “Best of You”.
Two commercials featured work by local friends. One — the Bud Light gorilla spot — was Assistant Directed by the host. Another, featuring a ragtag assortment of celebrities, was Script Supervised by a friend watching with her boyfriend on a different, larger TV a few blocks away. And after all that excitement, Susan and I won $70 in the football pool for a $25 contribution.
