My birthday ended an hour and 25 minutes ago, and a fine one it was. A homemade cake with homemade icing by Susan and the kids, and a fantastic gift, something which I have wanted for some time. Susan arranged for me to have my chart done by a skilled astrologer, the wife of someone whose work she reads daily. I called her at 4:00 p.m. our time (she is in California), and we spent an hour on the phone. The most fascinating part of the process was hearing the planetary alignment at the time of my birth, and how this accounts for various aspects of my makeup. Sept. 5, 1964, Leo rising, and four planets were in close alignment: Mercury, Moon, Uranus, and Pluto.
Now, it’s late, and I am pooped, and I am off to bed.
Tonight we had a birthday dinner (I turn 42 on Tuesday) at Sushi Blues with Susan, Kramer and Valerie. Much talk of the old days, and eye-rolling from K whenever a name or a band would come up that didn’t meet his high standards. There was one name which had both of our eyes rolling, the girlfriend of a certain record label entreprenour who sabotaged both of our relationships with a recording artist we would have liked to have remained friends with. That said, the sweet potato fries with three dipping sauces were perfect, and the chirashi a big portion of fresh stuff. V. got me two great gifts, some Led Zeppelin shot glasses and a big ear bookend sculpture:

Yesterday we went to The Bass Museum, and took in the visual art. We especially enjoyed Hervé Di Rosa’s exhibition, “Made in Miami”:
Afterwards we went down to Big Pink, a great diner at the end of A1A in South Beach. The kids were hungry:

I had a Big Pink burger, and so did Adele. Henry had pizza, and Susan a veggie burger.
