Into the Silent Land
Tuesday, August 15th, 2006I’m reading a very disturbing, interesting and great book at the moment, Paul Broks’ 2003 Into the Silent Land: Travels in Neuropsychology. It’s one of the most compelling things I’ve read, and it’s full of irreducible questions.
Today I did poster artwork for an up-and-coming musician with a cheerful demeanor and tremendous talent. I owe the opportunity to a great friend, and I hope this leads to more work of this quality. I also did some web work for a non-profit and some ads for my old employer.
Last night we had Valerie Zars’ birthday here at the house, with pizza, salad, cake, and merriment. Kramer showed me his newest infatuation on myspace, The Natural History Museum. There was a discussion in the old Forced Exposure magazine ca. 1989 about why Steve Albini produced The Breeders. Turns out the answer was “boing!”
I received the final go-ahead to plant trees in the local dog park. My shovel and I will be hard at work for the next couple of weeks.
