Ethan B. and Henry in Helen, GA during a pizza/adult sanity excursion.

Now I know the parties responsible for the front ponytail.

Henry will never lack for female companionship.

A proud moment. I sent her this shirt. The platypus is undoubtedly Adele’s spirit animal.

At Camp Coleman…

That cute, but sneering, girl is my son.
I’ll be back there on Wednesday, find out for myself.

He is friendly, sometimes.
This was sent by friend Keith S. with the caption “Friendly Gardener”, who I met at the dog park. I can date this from the sunglasses, shoes, condition of the t-shirt. The sunglasses are long gone, and were superseded by another pair, now gone, and replaced by the current pair. Th shirt, although sill in my possession, is stained and ragged. The shoes are still in my possession, but have been relegated to the closet, and replaced with the current pair on my feet right now.
My plantings at the dog park have been a frustrating endeavor, losing many plants to both animal activity (forgivable) and human maliciousness. There are several “characters” who hang out there and believe the place belongs to them, and one individual with an aggressive little dog who threatened me when I defended myself. Still, many of the trees are growing well, and are beyond needing me to care for them, so it is a mixed bag.

Today I saw that when looking inside, it is necessary to look at what is actually there, deeply, and without judging, instead of what we wish or imagine is there. What Is Actually There? Look.

At Camp Coleman on Friday night.
Why is he smiling? He doesn’t know that on 6/19/08 he will have to try and fix his mother’s computer!
Over the phone!
In person!
Over the phone again!
In person again!
And, finally…
Over the phone!
The conclusion:
“Your computer is too old. It won’t do what you want. You have to buy a new one.”

I’m home for two weeks by myself while family camps at Camp Coleman in the North Georgia mountains, the bottom end of the ancient Appalacians. Here are two temporary Appalachians:

I left the house at 12:30 this afternoon to get the oil changed in the van before we make a long road journey to Cleveland, GA tomorrow morning. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw this:
Water Spout Coming Ashore

It’s a water spout that may or may not have made landfall, but it was impressive. I had the new camera with me and so shot the video. It’s been used on one local news program and is also on CNN’s iReport site:
